Our 5 Favorite Valentine’s Day Books and Messy Baking

Sunshine & Lullabies Valentine's Day

So let me get this started by saying, I love the month of February! It might have something to do with it being my birthday month or Valentine’s Day, I say it might be but really it is that haha. I’m not into going crazy for Valentine’s Day though, my birthday is like 6 days later so I’d rather save the celebrating for then. However, I do enjoy some flowers and a nice dinner at home (I say no thanks to going out and dealing with the crowds, yuck) and this year has The Walking Dead returning so that’ll be on for sure. I figured we’d start doing a little somethin’ somethin’ fun for Harper and the future babe to enjoy too. I usually don’t decorate much for Valentine’s Day but having kiddos makes it so much more fun. Harper loves the balloons and the random odds and ends that we grabbed from Target, plus side is that nothing I got was over $10 so it didn’t break the bank.

Last year I started gathering up some holiday themed board books for several holidays and Valentine’s is no different. I also added a couple more this year because I’m such a book lover; seriously though, there’s no such thing as having too many books!

Our 5 Favorite Valentine’s Day themed board books are:

      1. The Biggest Kiss by Joanna Walsh The Biggest Kiss (Classic Board Books)
      2. The Love Monster by Rachel Bright Love Monster
      3. I Love You So by Marianne Richmond I Love You So… (Marianne Richmond)
      4. Plant a Kiss by Amy Krouse Rosenthal Plant a Kiss
      5. The Perfect Hug by Joanna Walsh The Perfect Hug (Classic Board Books)

I was trying to think of a couple of fun, toddler friendly Valentine’s Day things to do and my number one thing was baking. Harper had such a great time when we decorated sugar cookies for Christmas that I thought helping me bake some cupcakes and decorate them would be even better (pink and red of course). I’m definitely packing up 90% of them and sending them into work with Wyatt, otherwise I’ll end up eating a dozen all by myself. It was a huge mess but she had a blast! I also put together a little basket of stuff for her for Sunday with a new dress, a new book, heart stickers, a fun swirly straw cup and I’m going to grab her a heart balloon. Nothing crazy but something little to make the day fun. And it’s a 3 day weekend with Daddy so we’re all happy over here!
