Harper’s 3rd birthday was… everything dinosaur, no cake wanted, daddy off work, zoo trip with the fam, pinata hitting, sun, squirt guns and friends… Her birthday fell on a Wednesday this year and since we got a zoo membership last fall Harper’s been obsessed with going to the zoo so this was our obvious birthday destination. Wyatt was able to take off work which made the day so special, Harper is a serial daddy’s girl for sure! The zoo was seriously the most perfect day, we fed the giraffes (Indy is scared to death of them for some reason and had a total meltdown when it got close enough to grab the lettuce), pet and fed the stingrays which is totally awesome if you haven’t done it before, lunch then we hit dairy queen since Harper wanted nothing to do with cake and everything to do with ice cream haha.
We went with a modern dinosaur theme for her actual party which was just a few days after her birthday. It was so fun! This was Harper’s first OFFICIAL birthday party where friends were coming over and she was soooo excited. I DIY’d dino succulents for each of the kiddos that came over, and let me tell you, they were nuts over them. They were super easy to make, spray paint, drill out the holes (unfortunately ours were solid rubber and totally burned out the motor in Wyatt’s nice drill so be careful!), hot glue planting moss and then stick the air plant in. I also handmade tags with each of the kids names and tied them around the dinosaurs neck. Grab bags with ‘Thank You’ tags and party hats that I DIY’d with marker, foam for spikes and washi tape. I love doing all the little touches because it makes everything that much more unique. I think my favorite thing of all the decor was my custom made cake toppers from Sonora Handmade, I gave Jenny a picture of a dinosaur and told her what I wanted with a number three and she knocked it out of the ballpark! She loves doing custom laser cutting so if you have anything you need you should totally ask her, she’s super nice.
Overall, I wouldn’t change anything about her birthday or the party, we had a great time celebrating Harper’s big 3rd birthday. And now we’re on to planning for Indy’s big 1st birthday in April! I can’t believe it. Happy weekend friends!
